Aoste. The Aoste valley. The mountains are impressive, the brilliant snow and the little villages surrounded by the mountains.
Since we crossed the border, the clouds have disapeared. Bathed by heat of the sun, we decide to up in altitude in order to camp. The night comes while we climb in the Aosta's Hollywood : Villas with cameras and expensive cars surrounds us. Gradually, The houses leave the way to nature and some mountains pastures around 800 meters above the sea level. Blinded by the desire to go always further, we continue to climb. Finally, we find a nice parcel of short grass, backed the mountain. At 1200 meters, the view is awesome. It is our first camp in Italy, the highest one and the most beautiful since the beginning of the trip.
The Aosta Valley, Its 400 lakes, 210 glaciers and Its famous peaks.
Our highest camp, 1200 meters above sea level.
The day after, we leave the Aosta region with a family who takes us before the highway. After two other cars, we arrive at Ivrea. We walk to Burolo in a deluge and set up the camp in a park, after the sunset. When we wake up, we and our stuff are wet and muddy but the rain is gone and the sun shines.
The problems begin with the Piemont region. We understand that hichthiking in Northern Italy is complicated mostly because the people are suspicious and afraid. Nevertheless, we manage to reach Novara with Claudio and his mom. Plus, they decide to host us and cook marvellous pastas for us.
Although a lot of people advise us to take a train, we hitchike to Milano where we decide to take a train to Trieste, the last italian city before Slovenia. We are a bit sorry to run away from Italy like that. However, we are enthousiast and happy to keep ahead on the winter.
